C2C Cycle
This is happening 7th – 12th August 2008, and we’ve got our trusty old bikes and legs so it should work. We walked the Coast to Coast in 2006 and came up with the idea of repeating it using different transport modes.
We can’t ride unicycles, nor does it snow enough to ski, so cycling it has to be. The 140-mile cycle route is different from the 190-mile walk, but they both cross the same bit of northern England.
The route is about half road and half off-road. Although it has hills, it’s not the Tour de France and 140 miles in 5 days won’t be a huge achievement – but neither of us are ‘serious’ bikers so this is a first step!
Wait ok investing in a pair of cycling shorts was the first step… and you know what happens once you start buying the gear. Well, with a bit of luck and not too many punctures we should be back here with some good stories to tell!
